Pop songstress Ayaka’s sophomore album puts forth sixteen tracks of impeccable vocals and songs with all the soul of a Pentecostal revival. From opening [Power of Music] to closing [WINDING ROAD] the gospel trio with Kobukoro, Ayaka lays the groundwork for an album teaming with Creole melodies, jazz and blues overtones, and a voice to shake any Bible thumper. Standouts include hit single [Jewelry day] a slow, guitar driven ballad, [手をつなごう] or [Let’s Hold Hands] a lilting piece of piano composition with a melody reminiscent of any theme song from A Walk to Remember or The Notebook. Non-single standouts are [今夜も星に抱かれて] or [Wrapped in the Stars Tonight] with a gentle heart-like quality and a gracefully arching piano segment to take your breath away. Ayaka once again proves, as she did with First Message that she is worthy of our attention and praise.

Grade: A (95%)
Star Ranking: Four Stars (Excellent)
