春待人
(Haru Machibito)
(She Who Waits for the Spring)

My first though as this song begins is: ASIAN! This song is very hard to categorize. It falls into traditional Japanese music, Enka. It falls into JPop. It falls into techno. I’ve been attempting to figure out all of the different types of techno and it is almost impossible. This song uses a drum kit, that I know. Anyone have any help for me like a very comprehensive list with examples, I would be truly happy. At any rate, ‘春待人’ is a sugary confection of pop and soft core techno. It uses violins, a piano, electric guitar riffs, and some glittery synth elements. This song’s main instrument seems to be the forementioned drum kit and lots of harps. The song is very light and airy. It reminds me of a bright blue sky.

Camellia -カメリア-
(Kameria)
5:23

Another hard to categorize song, I would most likely place it in the techno category of Dream House and then sub-categorize it into Progressive Mediterranean. That may or may not be write. It uses a lot of high pitched synth programming at a very high BPM. The melody is very pleasant. It would border and sweet pop up-tempo song without the dizzying synthesizers. It will become tiring after a few listens, like gathering lactic on your muscles. Other than synth, ‘Camellia’ uses cymbals, a full church organ at the bridge (!!!), and more synth. The chuch organ reminds me of ~Mermaid~. This song is no ~Mermaid~.

This song on the other hand is classical inspired House. Deep, penetrating bass line with lots of different drums. The melody is somber without feeling really sad. There is synth everywhere! They grow exponentially… I got tired of it very quickly. It is extreme filler.

This single is not that great. She released much better material by a long shot. The melodies are all memorable by the abundance of synth is almost too much to bear. The greatest thing about the single are the harps in the title song.
