So, this makes it three in a row where a single has had a power ballad at its lead track from Miss Ito. Lucky for her, ‘Precious’ is a beautiful, imaginative peice of composition. With some striking harmonics between the melody and instrumentation and a wonderful vocal performance, this song deserves all of its accolades. The lyrics are sweet. They speak of the strength of her love. A few times, the English parts don’t make much sense in the general translation. About the song itself: a live drum set, violins, piano, synth, and chimes. A very sweeping, grand arrangement.

I’m Free
Lyrics: Saeko Nishio / Composer: Yuta Nakano

This song consists mostly of synth, a cool Spanish drumming, and some well-placed violins. The song is very peppy, pure pop. The vocals are perfect with the genre and sound very well with this up-tempo, disco-inspired song. The chorus is very catchy and the song is danceable, which is always a plus in my book. I like the very positive message about following your dreams.

Lyrics: Reika Yuuki, Yuna Ito / Composer: Nao Tanaka

A bouncy, synth-heavy pop number with a rockish undertone describes the second B-side, ‘Secrets’. Secrets is about a girl being unable to get across everything she wants to say to her crush; she wants him to say what he thinks so she doesn’t have to suffer anymore. The song is a lot of fun, but in a different way of ‘I’m Free’. I really enjoy this track, it’s uplifting and evokes happiness.

A wildly popular single from Yuna Ito, too bad the rest of her singles couldn’t sell this well. Good job, Yuna; especially since you co-wrote ‘Secrets’.

  1. I must say, when I first came across this song, I only decided to listen to Precious because of that gorgeous cover. XD

I’m not a fan of Yuna Ito, but I must admit, Precious is well-done. Not amazing, but well-done. I haven’t heard anything else of hers, though. perhaps I’ll give her a second chance.

  2. I agree a lot with you about “secrets”, i didn’t know the meaning of the song, but the lyrics are so much right, and the melody is not to leave the lyrics make u feel sad, but make u feel somewhat hopeful
