夢のうた (Yume no Uta)
4:43

‘Yume no Uta’ is a gorgeous piano ballad with a little bit of violin, drum, and synth. The reason that this song is my favorite Koda Kumi ballad is because this is one of the most emotional songs she has sang. Her raw feelings spill over the instrumentation and they add a perfect backdrop. The bridge uses a quiet chorus in the background and wonderful crescendo into the final chorus.

ふたりで… (Futari de…)
4:33

These two A-sides have the same melody. It’s a very pretty melody and I understand it being used twice. In ‘Futari de…’ we find it used in a softer, prettier way than the emotional, grand aspect we witnessed it in in ‘Yume no Uta’. Ample, strumming synth comprises most of the background. Kuu sings this with a sweet patience and I think it’s very calming.

夢のうた (Quartet Version)
4:31

As much as I like the original, I adore this version. All the violins just add a entrancing quality that the first didn’t carry and it’s just amazing.

ふたりで… (WHOOSH MIX)
4:40

This is a gentle remix with a effervescent backup vocals and accompaniment. I’ve heard a lot of people say they didn’t like this, but I really did. It’s just nice to listen to. The only bad part if the bridge, it sounds forced, out of key with accompaniment.

This is Koda Kumi’s first number one single outside of the -12 singles collection-. It’s a beautiful single and showcases an exceptional talent of Kuu’s which is to put emotion across a song, even if it’s the same melody.
